How to Get Rid of Blackheads?
What is a blackhead?
Blackheads are plugs or bumps on the surface of the skin, which their color may vary from dark brown to black. These plugs generally consist of dead skin cells and oil that are clogging up the skin pores. Blackheads are some type of acne and affect mostly people with oily skin, usually occurring on the nose, forehead and chin. A person could take some simple, but important, steps to get rid of blackheads.
Although blackheads could give an ugly look to your skin, but you shouldn't worry too much about them since many people get them, especially adolescents around the age of puberty. These skin problems are simply produced by natural processes of the skin.
How to remove blackheads?
Blackheads are caused when oil glands produce so much oil that the pores become blocked. Cleansing your skin properly and regularly prevents dead skin cells from amassing and blocking the skin pores. In general, having a regular skin care routine and using oil free facial products could help a lot in acne treatment and blackheads removal.
Drinking a lot of water and other fluids make the body getting rid of toxins and could result in a much more smooth skin. Using scrubs or other exfoliants (products to remove dead cells from the skin) could also be helpful, but don't use them too much as it might cause the skin to irritate and to produce even more dead cells.
Chemical exfoliants usually contain an enzyme or acid which make it easier to remove blackheads. They could be in various forms of skin care products such as masks, gels, lotions and so on.
If you don't know which exfoliating product is effective and safe for your skin, just ask your dermatologist for help. Be aware that using several exfoliants or scrubs at the same time may have unpleasant effects such as extensive irritation, redness, peeling, and extreme dryness.
There are also some home remedies which could help you get rid of blackheads:
- 1- Put a mixture of lime juice, glycerin and almond oil on the damaged area. It's said to remove blackheads as well as other face spots.
- 2- Place some amount of warm honey on your skin for about 10-15 minutes and then wash it off.
- 3- Take some egg white (without mixing it with yolk) and spread it on your face skin, and then place a toilet paper on it. After about 30 minutes (or after the egg white has dried) peal off the paper softly.
- 4- Scrub your face with the blend of lime juice and salt.
And in the end, just keep in mind that in order to treat blackheads you should be persistent and patient.
